La mort dans la main, directed by Jim Stayne, is a black-and-white short film inspired by the spirit of classic film noir.

Created for the 15ᵗʰ edition of the Nikon Film Festival, it was later officially selected for the Seoul International Extreme Short Image & Film Festival.

The film pays tribute to the cinema of Alfred Hitchcock — and, by extension, to the music of Bernard Herrmann.

Entirely silent, it contains no dialogue or sound design; its soundscape is built exclusively around an original score composed by MHM. Drawing inspiration from the iconic scores of the 1950s and 60s, the music blends short motifs, driving rhythmic cells, and a deliberate preference for dissonance over melody.

With music playing a central role in the film’s narrative and emotional structure, MHM spent several weeks immersed in classic film noir soundtracks to absorb the genre’s mood, pacing, and stylistic language.
