La mort dans la main, directed by Jim Stayne, is a black-and-white short film inspired by the spirit of classic film noir.

Created for the 15ᵗʰ edition of the Nikon Film Festival, it was later selected at the Seoul International Extreme Short Image & Film Festival.

The film pays tribute to the cinema of Alfred Hitchcock — and, by extension, to the music of Bernard Herrmann, known for his use of short motifs, effective rhythmic cells, and his preference for dissonance over melody.

Entirely silent, it contains no dialogue or sound design, and its soundscape is built solely around an original score composed by MHM.

Because the music plays such a central role in this project, MHM spent several weeks listening exclusively to film noir soundtracks to absorb the mood, pacing, and style of the genre.
