MHM is a French-Tamil music composer and vocalist based in Lyon, whose work seamlessly blends cinematic orchestration, electronic innovation, and profound emotional storytelling. Born Michel Hibon Mariyadas in Paris, he entered the world in the heart of the City of Light, near the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, growing up immersed in an atmosphere marked by spirituality and cultural richness.
Another part of him, however, was shaped elsewhere — in the story of his parents, originally from Sri Lanka. They left their homeland due to the civil war, carrying with them the strength and narratives of their past. This legacy of resilience, combined with the ancestral Tamil culture — one of the oldest living languages in the world — flows through his veins and deeply nourishes his identity and, through it, his art.

A self-taught composer, MHM discovered early on that music was more than a passion — it was his calling. Under his artist name, MHM, he developed a distinctive style that places the human voice at the very center of his compositions, using it as a versatile and expressive instrument to craft rich harmonies and evoke deep emotional resonance.
This sensibility now fully infuses his work as a composer for the screen, with MHM conceiving music as a narrative language in its own right, capable of shaping emotion, perception and the audience’s reading of the narrative. Across a range of audiovisual projects, his music is never treated as mere accompaniment: it becomes an integral part of the work’s structure and sonic identity, and may, when the project calls for it, extend into more immersive forms close to sound design, reflecting contemporary approaches to film music.
Alongside his instrumental works, his catalog of songs spans multiple languages, with special attention given to Tamil. Through these works, he not only pays homage to his cultural roots but also seeks to share the beauty and depth of the Tamil language with a global audience. Notably, his song Athangara Orathila was featured on BBC Asian Network and appeared on Rolling Stone India’s Monthly Playlist at the time of its release.
Beyond music, MHM is a passionate multidisciplinary artist, exploring themes such as nature, time, and human connection across various forms of expression. Through each project, he strives to create works with universal reach, inviting audiences on a journey that is both intimate and profoundly meaningful.
